I have just completed the sculpting and firing phases of my most aggressive clay sculpture, a double play at second base, and it is now time to add color - color is not my strong suit.
To make a long story short, I would like to accomplish the look of burned patina. To date I have used acrylic paints on my clay sculptures, first layering heavy body and now I'm using soft body to get more transparency. I have been using brushes and sponges to apply the acrylic paint. I do not have a clue of how to do a burned patina and a couple challenges I see is my piece is not uniform in color and I need to do some patching of armature holes, hairline cracks, and voids. Can anyone help me in getting the look of burned patina? For pictures of what I am talking about please email me at: terry@tlcrowther.com Thank you, Terry
