Alberto Gedeon Soto
Peruvian Sculptor and Artist
Born in Lima, 1976. He began his artistic training at the National School of Our Lady of Guadalupe,
where he won a drawing competition and was awarded an extramural scholarship to study at the
Peruvian National School of Fine Art, undertaking his professional training there from 1994 to 2001.
He dedicated his first two years to painting, before specialising in sculpture. From 2002 to 2004,
taught at the same school as well as working as an art teacher at a high school in Lima.
His work is principally naturalistic, in all its forms. He paints on canvas and wood, in oils and
acrylics. As a sculptor, he specialises mainly in marble, but also works with all kinds of stone
and wood. He has been invited to exhibit his work at numerous galleries in Lima.
In 2006 he travelled to Europe. He spent five years living in Tenerife, Canary Islands, where he
worked as a sculptor, producing numerous examples of his work in volcanic rock, especiallypiedra
chasnera, a volcanic rock specific to the island. He has also created various works in Belgium,
Germany (Cologne) and Romania.
In 2014, Alberto Gedeon Soto settled in Brno, Czech Republic, where he continues to work from
his studio in Zidenice. He first exhibition there was at the Grand Hotel Brno in 2013.
