Pam Foley
Abstraction from the human figure is a consistent theme in my work. Through my sculptural practice I distil the
experience of the process, to make physical a narrative. Dance and gymnastics classes, as well as anatomy lessons,
provided me with the framework from which to observe and understand the balance, poise, line and energy of the human body.
Although my limited edition sculptures are a contemporary synthesis of traditional representations of the human form, my particular
interest is in archaeological finds and archetypal imagery, and their relevance to contemporary life.
I established a sculpture practice near Oxford UK in 1999, after a move from my native USA. I have been a freelance artist for over 25 years with degrees in Art and Ceramics. As part of my art practice I teach several classes to children and adults at art schools in the UK and from my studio.
